Youth Art Council
The Youth Art Council (YAC) is a group of high school students from across Northwest Houston area that collaborate with the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Art’s education staff to develop experiences for museum visitors, with a focus on their fellow teens.
The Council meets twice a month for planning meetings. If you are interested in joining the Council, applications for the 2024-2025 school year will open in June 2024 and can be accessed by clicking the red button. During bi-monthly meetings for one year council members are introduced to the inner workings of museums, meet with staff and advisors, learn skills in fundraising, marketing, event planning and create their own teen programming for local high schoolers to participate in. Under the advisement of museum staff, the council is encouraged to create programs for teens by teens. Council members also engage with their peers and professionals in the field to make their unique perspectives seen and heard. Current Youth Art Council members review and interview applications for incoming team members.
