The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to present Fused Glass Fish, an exhibition featuring glass art made by eighty 4th grade students at The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas. Under the direction of art instructor Amy Dietrich, students combined creativity with problem solving skills to create their own unique work of art.
The students cut clear glass into a fish body shape, then selected and arranged colored glass on top of the fish body, layering up to four pieces high. When fused in a kiln, the layers melt and overlap in a fluid way. As a finishing touch for their projects, the students came up with distinctive titles for their fish.
