Wanda M. Pauling
Picture
Wanda M. Pauling is a life-long patron of the arts who has always loved bringing music, literature, and art together. Her late husband, Dr. Fred W. Pauling, was a talented cardiovascular surgeon who would often relax by retiring to his art room to paint. Together they enjoyed collecting, supporting, and creating opportunities to experience the arts — especially for children.

Wanda served for ten years as a volunteer docent at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and was thrilled when the Pearl opened closer to home. She has generously supported the Pearl in a variety of ways, including the gift of a Steinway grand piano, underwriting the Pearlformance concert series, and volunteering as a museum docent.

Wanda graduated third in her high school class, and went on to earn a degree in Home Economics Education from Auburn University. She taught clothing construction to junior high students in Dallas, Texas, and later became a top-selling realtor in Denver, Colorado. Wanda also served as president of the Harris County Medical Society Alliance, North Branch, where one of her favorite projects was the annual “Touch, Smell, and Hear” holiday party for students with special needs, held at The Health Museum.

Married 56 years with two cherished children and two granddaughters, the Paulings’ generosity and love for the arts have enriched our community in beautiful ways. We are delighted to honor Wanda at the 2018 Pearls of Art Gala.
