A Collector's Passion:
The Works of Noel H. Leaver
Jan. 16 - May 14, 2016

The work of English watercolorist Noel H. Leaver (1889-1951) is particularly notable for the artist’s rich, vibrant use of color and precise depiction of architectural details. Although his most recognized works are his “Eastern” scenes – scenes based on distinctive structures from North Africa – these works only represent one-fifth of his work. His life’s work also included hundreds of paintings of European landscapes, town views, cathedral interiors, still lifes, and more.

Beginning January 16, 2015, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is excited to host 30 stunning examples of Noel H. Leaver’s watercolors in the Rebecca Cole Gallery. The 30 works will remain on loan from Carl Carter, a private collector based in Austin, Texas. Carter has been collecting Leaver’s paintings for nearly 35 years, and A Collector’s Passion marks the first-ever solo exhibition of Leaver’s work in the United States.
