Meltdown
by Daniel J. Linehan

August 19 - September 9, 2017
Hillery Community Gallery

The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to present Meltdown by local artist Daniel J. Linehan.  Linehan's incredibly detailed drawings reflect on personal experiences and family, and serve as a form of art therapy for the artist.

About the Artist
Houston-based artist Daniel J. Linehan was born in Northern Ireland and raised in the Bronx, New York. He has been drawing and creating in a range of artistic styles since the age of six, preferring to draw in the most difficult way possible – by making mistakes and refining his art until determining it is done.

Linehan is a staunch advocate of “the artist,” truly believing that artists are given a gift to change the world. He is the middle child of five siblings, and has three powerfully-talented young artists that he and his wife take joy in raising.

Artist Statement
“I am an artist for a lifetime.”
I love pointillism as it is the most difficult style to produce straight out of your head. I have a gift for telling stories through this imagery. Recently, I made the decision to share my art with the world. This is the most vulnerable I have ever been. I am a child abuse survivor and a lifetime artist. I strive to produce the type of art that takes you cross the line of moral indignation. In doing this, my hope is that my art causes you to experience true heartfelt emotional bliss and at all times, makes you think.

“Art is a healing gift.”
My struggle with PTSD and depression gives me a perspective that most people do not have; this insight is reflected in my art. I give you my absolute best, just as I have done all my life. My proudest accomplishments outside of my art are serving in the Marine Corps and building Water Tunnel #3 in New York City.

I am a high-speed, low-drag personality that has given my time to the service of others all of my life. It is my hope that you, the viewers of my collection thoroughly enjoy your experience. I plan to continue creating more intriguing pieces that represent the perplexities of life so that the common man can better understand the dynamics of what makes him tick in a complicated world.
