Craig Robbins photo
Craig Robbins' work centers around photographing similar landscapes or objects that when viewed together as a series shows the unique aspects and similarities between the same subject matter. The intention behind each series of images is a clear photographic study whether it be a series focused on empty swimming pools, found objects from nature, or Finnish architect Matti Suuronen’s Futuro homes.

The Pollinator Effect
September 24, 2022 – March 25, 2023

This fall, the Pearl will engage with hundreds of local students to create an outdoor art display that integrates art and science in a project called, "The Pollinator Effect."

Museum staff are building a replica of a beehive outside the Pearl. Students from public, private and home schools will then create bumble bees or butterflies out of recycled materials and attach them to the hive. Inside the museum's Cobb gallery, a mural installation featuring work by Virginia needle felt artist Ryan Lytle will explain the importance of pollinators and their role in the ecosystem.

To learn more about participating in this project or to schedule a field trip, please contact Grace at gracepfmfa@gmail.com. Volunteers are also needed; to learn more contact Rebecca at rebeccapfmfa@gmail.com.
